| Due to dangerous wildfire conditions the North Carolina Division of Forest Resources has issued a statewide outdoor burning ban effective October 15, 2007. The ban covers all open fires more than 100 feet from an occupied dwelling. Regulation of fires within the 100' zone falls under the authority of county and local officials.
The N.C. Division of Forest Resources has started issuing a $100 fine, instead of warning tickets, to anyone violating the ban on open burning.
The Cumberland County Fire Marshals office has issued a county wide outdoor burning ban effective October 15, 2007. The ban covers all open fires within the 100' zone.
